Top Foods to Avoid Premature Grey Hair

Last week, I’ve written an article about why people like me go gray early in life. But a few days ago, I came across an article that outlines some of the best foods for prematurely gray hair. I did mention in the previous “gray hair” article that diet could play a role in when gray hair produces. But now, I’m going to dig deep and discuss the best types of foods to either prevent or possibly reverse gray hair.

In the article, “Top 7 Foods for Prematurely Gray Hair” on www.findhomeremedy.com, I learn about several different foods that could help in preventing and reversing gray hair. One type of food group that could help is protein enriched foods. Foods such as meat, fish and sprouted beans are helpful in slowing down the graying process and preventing it altogether. Dairy products such as milk are said to be helpful as well.

Eat your veggies if you don’t want gray hair.

Another food group that could combat early gray hair is copper and iodine foods. Being deficient in iodine can cause diseases such as hyperthyroidism or Hashimoto that can induce an early change in hair color. Copper is another macronutrient that is associated with the production of melanin in the body. So you may want to add copper and iodine foods in your diet. Some examples of foods in these two groups include chocolate, nuts, potatoes, veggies and berries.

These types of foods are also beneficial, but it has been recommended to restrict the daily intake to only about 400mg. These are foods that contain selenium. Some examples of these foods are chicken, fish, eggs and onions. According to the Find Home Remedy article, too much selenium can potentially act as a toxic agent.

These last two food groups I’m going to share to avoid premature graying are foods that contain vitamins and folic acid. Lack of foods in either of these items could lead to premature graying. Consuming vitamin foods such as carrots, broccoli, and radishes in your diet could be beneficial in preventing gray hair. Green veggies, meat and beans are good examples of foods that contain folic acid.

Looking through that Find Home Remedy article has been quite educational for me. It shows that what you put in your mouth could have an impact on the health of your hair. So do yourself a favor and consider adding these foods to combat premature graying.
