How to manage the lupus condition

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus) is a chronic, autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in various parts of the body, including joints, kidneys and other organs, skin, blood and even the brain.  It can affect any organ in the body and may cause a wide range of symptoms.  It occurs when your body’s immune system mistakenly attack your own tissues and organs.  About 9 out of 10 adults with the disease are women between the ages of 15 and 45.  Like every condition, this ailment could be managed with proper treatment and diet.  Here’s how that is possible.

While there is currently no cure for the condition, there are various methods of treatment to control it.  One of these treatments includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.  These NSAID drugs are a group of medicines that relieve pain and fever and reduce inflammation.  Some examples of these drugs are naproxen and ibuprofen.

Other forms of treatment include antimalarial medications, such as hydroxychloroquine to decrease the risk of lupus flares and corticosteroids to counter the inflammation.  But another important part of managing the condition is having the proper diet and exercise.  So be sure to get your daily dose of leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy and lean sources of protein.

Lupus is a chronic condition, but it could be managed with proper medication, diet, and exercise.  So with proper care, you could win the fight against lupus.  For more information, visit www.healthtopquestions.com/lupus-symptoms-treatment or www.mylupusteam.com.
