We all have a lot going on in our lives. From our busy work schedules to our busy lives, it could be difficult to find time for simple rest. Our minds and bodies could become weared down with excessive work. We also have our personal responsibilities such as caretaking or up keeping of the home. However, sometimes we need to find time for ourselves. How can we find time for ourselves during these busy, stressful times? Here are a few things we must do for self-care.
Take Short Break Periods
Whether you work on-site somewhere or from home, it’s vital that you take short break periods. I have personally found that to be the case while working from home. Sometimes, I take a few minutes to step away from my computer. It’s beneficial for your mind and body. Take 5-10 minutes to step outside of your house. Take a few minutes for a relaxing nap. Just take a few minutes to decompress and relax.
Try Breathing and Stretching Exercises
When you’re under so much pressure in your daily life, it’s vital that you take a few minutes to breathe. But don’t just take some time to do that. Also be sure to release some tension in your muscles by engaging in some stretching exercises. Move your head up and down, left to right. Tense up one part of your body at a time. When you let out some good stretches, you will start to see your body sensations change. This is an important self-care practice that we sometimes fail to do.
Meditate on Important Things
When you relax, why not take the time to meditate on the more important things in life? I’m not referring to your job or other responsibilities. I’m referring to spiritual things in life. We all need to be aware of our spiritual need. Sometimes, it could be so easy to lose sight of what’s important in our lives and that’s our relationship with God.
Take some free time out of your day and just meditate on all the things in life he has blessed you with. The ability to wake up each day is a good example. How about having family and friends who care for you? Or the ability to laugh, jump, and play? These are just a few examples of things that Jehovah has blessed us with that we can meditate on.
