5 Calming Activities Every ADHD Adult Women Must Try

When you’re a woman with ADHD, your mind tends to drift from one thing to the next. Having too many things cluttering up your mind could leave you mentally overwhelmed. That’s why we must leave a little time to relax our minds from the everyday stresses of life. Engaging in different calming activities is a great way to do that. For some fresh ideas, here are 5 calming activities every ADHD adult woman could try.

Practice Deep Breathing

Deep breathing is essential in helping women with ADHD relax. It helps you to concentrate better on what you’re trying to accomplish. Deep breathing prompts you to clear your mind and focus. It is usually helpful when you’re running around with a million things to do. Instead of trying to do them all at once, take 5-10 minutes of your day to do some breathing exercises. It lowers your blood pressure and reduces stress.

Do Journaling Exercises

Taking some to write things down is also usually helpful in calming your nerves. Consider buying a notebook from one of your local Dollar stores. Or perhaps if you want to save a little money and you’re into printables, try one of these I happen to have in my Etsy shop right now. No matter what type of journal you choose, this hobby is a great way to unload all of your stressful thoughts on paper. Don’t know what to write about? Try drawing out your mood or feelings for the day.

Engage in Physical Exercises

Exercising helps not only exercising your body but the brain as well. It is a stress reducer because it increases the brain’s serotonin levels, combating cortisol. It produces feel-good hormones, such as endorphins, to destress. Exercise could not only improve your mood but also increase relaxation. So whenever you have the chance- be sure to set aside some time to go for a walk around the block to release pent-up energy.

Apply Essential Oils to Specific Body Parts

There are plenty of essential oils that help in reducing stress. Lemon oil, lavender, and chamomile are some of the ones that are good to use. Some of them can be applied topically in body parts like your wrists or behind your ears. These essential oils are also great at picking up your mood. Try this as a good calming activity for managing ADHD.

Do some Gardening

Gardening is another calming activity that is great for adult women with ADHD. Spending time in nature always keeps the stress level low. If you haven’t started this as a hobby yet, why not consider doing it today? You can plant herbs, fruits, vegetables, whatever you like. Repotting house plants is a good way to jumpstart your way into this activity.

These are just some of the most common calming activities for ADHD adult women. If you’re struggling with focusing on your work, try one of these activities to help you calm down and refocus again.
